National Honor Society is an organization made up of students who excel in grade point average, and are involved in extra curricular and community activities. Mr. White is the advisor for the group. To be eligible, one must be a junior or a senior with a GPA of at least 3.66. From there, a panel of teachers chooses the members by their character, leadership and service to our school and community. Members are chosen during the second quarter of each school year. The Induction ceremony, which is run by the senior members of the society, is generally held in January.
The National Honor Society members help the school and community in as many ways as they can, depending on the availability of the members. Current members are active participants, and in many cases hold leadership positions, in SADD, Peer Helpers, the Annual Staff, Lettermen and Letterwomen clubs, the athletic teams, Forencics, Band and Choir, Cheerleading squad etc.. As NHS members, they supply refreshments and answer questions at the fall and spring parent teacherís conferences, help run the academic banquet at the end of the year, supply the ushers at the graduation ceremony, run the NHS induction ceremony, are tutors for other students, and help with a variety of small projects at the school and in the Hilbert Community.
